Why Locals Love Moreno Restaurant
Nestled right on the sun-kissed shoreline of Playa Burriana in Nerja, Moreno Restaurant offers an authentic Mediterranean bar & grill experience that’s both inviting and delightfully unpretentious. This charming seaside chiringuito captures the true essence of coastal Spain with its focus on fresh, flavorful seafood and traditional Mediterranean dishes served in a casual, relaxed atmosphere where the sound of waves blends with friendly chatter.
Moreno is known particularly for its generous portions of local specialties like espetos — classic grilled sardines, bursting with smoky, charred goodness that truly evoke the flavors of the Andalusian coast. Diners can expect beautifully cooked fish, tender and flaky, paired with vibrant garnishes that highlight the freshness of each catch. The menu of the day is a standout, offering hearty pasta and comforting soups, each spoonful warm and satisfying. While some dishes like the pork may occasionally lean towards being a bit dry, their robust flavors more than compensate, closing the meal on a high note with indulgent ice cream and rich coffee.
The restaurant’s balcony boasts stunning sea views — a perfect backdrop for savoring your meal while soaking up Nerja’s golden light. However, be prepared for a lively, authentic chiringuito vibe rather than fine dining; service may sometimes move at a leisurely pace, especially during busy hours, but this only adds to the laid-back charm of the experience. The staff, including attentive and personable servers like Valentin, enhance the welcoming ambiance with their warmth and good humor, often making the wait worthwhile.
For those sensitive to dietary needs, Moreno’s willingness to accommodate gluten-free options further showcases their friendly and inclusive approach. Whether you’re a first-timer eager to try paella with fresh local shrimp or a regular who appreciates the hearty, generous portions and the unbeatable location, Moreno promises a memorable taste of Mediterranean coastal life — unpretentious, flavorful, and full of heart.

Look for goodness sake take it as you find it. This a beach Chiringuito not a 5 star restaurant. We chose the menu of the day: pasta was plentiful and tasty, soup the very same. Large bread rolls were delicious. Fish with garnish was well cooked, pork a bit dry but tasty. Ice cream and coffee was a lovely welcome end to out meal. In between courses the service could have been quicker same could be said about getting the bill. However where do you need to be, just sit back and relax and enjoy the view of the beach and mountains.

It is nice views from the balcony. The service was efficient but it took ages for the food to arrive. For the price we paid we expected a bit more. We ordered local fish which was tasty.

Super rich food. Amazing espetos, great view. Valentin attended us and he was really fun , attentive and nice. Recommended . No bookings, you wait in line and you go in when there is a free table.

Very good and generous Christmas meny. No problem to change to glutenfree options. We eat here often and the staff is always very friendly and service minded.

excellent. Had mussels and asked for more, wife had the grilled squid and wife also said it’s the best dish she had in Malaga. Would recommend to anyone!

I’ve been to this restaurant many times, it’s busy during the summer months but the staff are friendly and courteous. The food is excellent and the prices are reasonable, having the beach close by is super!
